How it works is I initially applied for a Z Visa when I was in the States for permission to work in China. After entry, I have 30 days to apply for a Residence Permit. So, I had to go to the “Public Security of Exit-Entry Administration of Shandong Province”. I did that about 2 and half weeks ago and turned in my Passport!!!!!! This is scary!!!!! I’m given a temporary one – a piece of paper with red stamps all over it, this is called a receipt. So, then I return in 2 and half weeks for ‘collection day’. I give them my receipt and they retrieve my passport. So, my Z Visa is crossed out with a pen and on the next page of my passport is my “Residence Permit for Foreigner in the People’s Republic of China”.
There is the photo of my final reward! The process to be allowed to work as a foreigner in China was extremely arduous and rather expensive as well, so this achievement in itself is an amazing feat.

PS – Sorry about the redacted bits. On the internet?; that information probably not a good idea to publish!
