Picture #29 – And finally a walk in the park across the street from the museum. And in the park were semi-professional musicans and singers doing (for a lack of better terminology) arias or passages from the Huangmei Operas. There were 4 erhu players, 3 or 4 female vocalists and 1 male vocalist. I have them playing and singing (only one female vocalist sang on the piece I recorded) on video (about 6 minutes worth), but the file is way too large to post. I’l have to figure out a way to edit it down to a smaller file and add later. The piece they played? – I have no idea what passage it was from. I have no idea what the story was about and I have no idea wha the lyrics said – the music made me well-up and almost begin to cry – very, very moving – very, very beautiful. After they played they were so enthralled that this old American guy was there to appreciate what they do and that he enjoyed the music so much, they felt it a very good idea to take a group picture of us all. These are amazing people!
