The interior of the small boat we rode out to the island. It is very interesting – and I mean this warmly and not in any negative fashion – but it takes a bit of getting used to being stared at a lot! Ya know, when you’re the only old, white guy around in a 20 mile radius or more – one learns to just go about ones business. It’s just a sign of curiosity and interest. I even get this on the University campus. The Chinese are not really used to seeing pastie, light-brown eyed, very graying people about. It’s different in the big cosmopolitan cities – Beijing / Shanghai from what I understand. It’s pretty funny really!
