8 August 2017 – And finally, yesterday, we visited a clothing boutique that I discovered when I first arrived in Jinan. The clothing, the I first saw it, said – ‘this is stuff Mary would love!’ I bought quite a few pieces for Mary, Oona and Kyla from this establishment. The entire collection consists of clothes that is either linen or cotton. Mary loves linen! Finally, Mary gets to come and visit the shop. And we all sit around, (after I spend even more money on beautiful clothing), we all sit around drinking very special teas and having hilarious conversation via iPhones and translating apps. This modern translation technology is absolutely vital to communicate on an every day level when language is this much of a barrier between peoples. This afternoon was truly a powerful cultural exchange! We had so much fun simply having conversation and enjoying each others company. We had a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony. The table top you see in the picture is carved stone, it is very, very old (ancient in fact) – it is an inking table! It is used in mixing and preparing inks for Chinese calligraphy! Like I’ve said all along – Amazing Stuff!
