1 June, 2017 – So, yesterday, Wednesday, 31 May, was our only class day this week. Sunday through Tuesday was the annual Dragon Boat Festival here in China. I didn’t really participate too well. I never made it to any Dragon Boat Competitions, but I stayed home and managed to fix some prepackaged Zongzi! Zongzi is a traditional Chinese food made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings (mine were plum I think?) and wrapped in bamboo, reed, or other large flat leaves. They are cooked by steaming or boiling. Boy, the first batch I tried microwaving them – according to the package, one could do that. Well, not quite – I burnt the life out of them. So, I tried the ‘proper’ way to prepare as mentioned above. Anyway, as I was attempting to say, we had only one class day this week and no one ordered 4 new models for my class, probably because all the right people left quickly to enjoy the holiday. So, here I have a class of 20 students, no models – what does an old professor do? Well, he takes on the role of professional professor / model. My interpreter says, who’s going to teach the class – I say, ahhh, who cares – they’re on their own now. And of course they were fine – check these results!

PS – these were 1 day paintings!
