I really cannot believe it has been a month since my last posting in my blog. It has been extremely busy. I have three weeks left until the close of my Abstract Painting course. If I teach anymore in the future in a college / university setting – I would prefer to teach this course again and again. Up until this advanced course selection, I have been teaching foundational courses – Drawing, painting and 2D-Design. And it has been a wonderful opportunity to teach what I do. However, I think the days are over when I will continue to teach the foundations; unless someone offers me a ridiculous amount of money to do so. But this Abstract Painting course has been a fantastic challenge! My foundational courses have been tightly orchestrated and I teach basically art mechanics. My Abstract Painting course is fluid, ever-changing and very loosely orchestrated. It is mentally exhausting and draining. But what a way to challenge my thinking.

The following pages are examples of the work being generated in this class. Keep in mind, the majority of the paintings are on a very large scale. It was required of my students, it is primarily the size and scale they themselves wished to work in. Most of the work is 200cm x 180cm – that is: 6.5′ x 6.0′.

I am just going to post the work with very little commentary. My next posting will be in early December. The opening reception for our exhibition is December 9. This will be a very large affair. It is the culmination of both semesters of my students and my work. It includes the Portraiture done in the Spring Term and this Term’s Abstract Paintings. It is sort of the grand finale.

The exhibition is titled: Realism to Abstraction – An International Collaborative Exhibition. It should be Amazing Stuff!
